Rainier Therapeutic Riding in Yelm

Rainier Therapeutic Riding in Yelm

Soldiers with PTSD and debilitating injuries have help through a Yelm non-profit organization called Rainier Therapeutic Riding.  Some of the testimonials coming out of this organization are truly inspiring.  A woman who suffered from acrophobia (fear of open spaces) was able to overcome her fears and get back out in the public.  A military spouse tells of how her husband’s PTSD was totally crippling his ability to keep a job, and with the therapy he received during his participation with Rainier Therapeutic Riding, he was able to get back on his feet again.

There is something very special about the bond between a human and his/her horse, and the calming effects of taking care of something or someone other than yourself can really be a life-changing experience.  The Rainier Therapeutic Riding Center is totally free to soldiers and runs only on donations from the public.  Over 50 volunteers help mend what was broken, and the differences have been dramatic.  We are quite fortunate to have such a wonderful organization for our men and women here at Joint Base Lewis McChord.
