Celebrate the official start of Autumn by joining the fun and festivities of the DuPont Fall Festival. This free two-day event is jam-packed with games, contests, and historic displays that will entertain and educate guests about the local history and culture.
On Saturday, Sept. 24 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., bring your family and enjoy a Fall Festival at DuPont’s Clock Tower Park, 1408 Palisade Boulevard. Pony rides, a magic show, and arts and crafts will be on hand for kids. Adults and teens can test their creative skills during the scarecrow building contest and pumpkin carving contest. Schilter Family Farm will be on site selling natural fall yard decor. Live music and food vendors will also be available.
On Sunday, Sept. 25, start your day with an early morning Volksmarch with the Evergreen Wanderers. This year the Volksmarch route will take visitors by the first 1833 Hudson Bay Company fort site and the Wilkes Observatory which is perched on a bluff overlooking Puget Sound. This free event begins at 9 a.m. at the 1843 Fort Nisqually site.
Then from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., guests are invited to Hudson Bay Day at the 1843 Fort Nisqually site in DuPont. Walk the historic grounds and learn what brought the Hudson Bay Company to establish Fort Nisqually. Activities include an ‘archeology dig’ for kids, guided tours by historian Drew Crooks, live old-time music, antique gun display, historic re-enactors in costume, Ezra Meeker’s Hop Wagon, wood-carving demonstrations, needlecrafts, butter making demonstrations, and so much more.
Bring a picnic or enjoy a salmon bake dinner or kids hot dog meal. The salmon bake dinner is $12; Kids hot dog meal is $6. The 1843 Fort Nisqually site is located on Center Drive, across from the DuPont Civic Center.
