Getting a drivers license used to be as easy as studying the booklet, taking the test, getting the permit, then practicing for and passing the driver's test. It didn't matter how you got there, just that you passed your exam. Many high schools offered drivers education as either an elective or a requirement.
Today, a teen must be concerned about how they get there as much as the end result. Washington State requires all teen drivers to complete a state accredited drivers education course to the tune of at least $350 a person. Since most schools don't offer the course pro bono, parents are often in a scramble to find an affordable, yet quality, program that meets the state requirements.
